All further updates on how Covid-19 is affecting our flights will be posted here.

**Update at 27th July**

How is COVID-19 affecting my flight?

We are continuing to monitor the latest guidance issued by the Government, the Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority in order to keep our passengers and employees safe.

Social distancing in a balloon basket is not possible and the only real mitigation that can therefore be put in place is the wearing of face coverings for all passengers and regular hand sanitisation.  Despite these mitigations, due to the size of the basket passengers will have physical contact with other passengers throughout the flight, further increasing the potential risk of transmission to an unacceptable level.

The safety of our passengers, pilot and crew have always been our number one priority and is at the heart of every decision we make.  As a result we simply don’t feel able to protect you in a safe way whilst at the same time providing you with the outstanding ballooning experience that you deserve.  Compromises will have to be made at every step and the risks of transmission are too great so we have therefore taken the very hard decision to postpone all flights until the end of August 2020.

The only exception to this is our VIP flights in our small 2 passenger balloon and basket.  Our VIP Vouchers are different from our other Vouchers and allow for just 2 passengers plus the pilot to fly.  The risks involved in operating this balloon are considerably less purely due to the numbers of passengers and crew involved and these flights will start operating again from 1st August onwards.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and as soon as it is safe to do so we will commence flying.  But this will only be once we are confident that we can keep our passenger, pilot, crew, landowners and launch sites safe.

All further updates on this will be published on our website at www.kentballooning.com.

What happens if I buy a new Voucher?

Any Vouchers purchased between 18th March and 31st August 2020 will automatically have 18 months of validity, allowing passengers to fly at any time during our 2021 season.

Like all of us, we understand that our passengers will be concerned about their health and particularly when taking part in a group activity with people from outside of your household. We understand that many passengers would prefer to fly when things feel a little more ‘normal’ – that’s why we are giving every passenger the whole of our 2021 season in which to fly.

What about my Voucher?

To allow you extra time to fly we have extended all current valid Vouchers for a further 12 months from their expiry date as it was in March 2020. If you have not already done so, please contact us by email, quoting your Voucher number, to receive confirmation of your new expiry date.  The only exception is Vouchers that have been purchased since 18th March 2020 which already have 18 months validity.

If you have a flight date booked during this period of suspension then you will have received an email advising you of the postponement and asking you to reschedule your flight at your convenience.

Thank you for your support

These are temporary measures and we look forward to flying with you all soon.  In the meantime, take care of yourselves and each other and thank you for supporting a local family run business.

If you have any questions please contact our office at sales@kentballooning.com.

Previous Update - 5th June

How is COVID-19 affecting my flight?

We are continuing to monitor the latest guidance issued by the Government, the Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority in order to keep our passengers and employees safe. Despite the slight relaxation of the social distancing guidelines the measures currently in place still make it impossible to safely operate a balloon flight whilst maintaining social distancing.  Because balloons require a legal minimum weight capacity to be flown safely, it is impossible to maintain a 2m distance between passengers in the basket whilst still meeting this legal minimum weight requirement. This means that we have suspended all scheduled flights until 31st July 2020.

What about my Voucher?

If you have a current valid Voucher then don’t worry! During this period of flight suspension, we have extended all valid vouchers for a further 12 months from their current expiry date. If you have a flight date booked during this period of suspension then you will have received an email advising you of the postponement and asking you to reschedule your flight at your convenience.

What happens if I buy a new Voucher?

Any Vouchers purchased before 31st July 2020 will automatically have 18 months of validity, allowing passengers to fly this year or next. Like all of us, we are concerned about our family and friends and understand that even once any restrictions have been lifted a balloon flight might not be top of the list – that’s why we are giving every passenger some extra time to allow things to get back to normal.
